Many times during our journey to learn how to improve our accuracy when using a firearm, many individuals will offer advice and instruction. This could happen informally at a range or other casual setting. Or formally in class.

Regardless of the scenario, the advice and instruction are mostly well intended and based on a good body of accumulated knowledge and expertise.

My experience with firearms encompasses my 21 year military career and 30 years as a civilian. So I’ve had opportunity to experience both and am thankful for all the help I have received along the way from friends and instructors.

But a structured and well organized program called “Appleseed”, has helped me the most in terms of knowledge, form and accuracy.

Rather than interpret or paraphrase who they are and what they do, here are some excerpts from “appleseedinfo.org”:

“Project Appleseed™ is a non-partisan and apolitical group of men and women   (known as the Revolutionary War Veterans Association) committed to upholding        the values and principles of America’s founding fathers. We use rifle        marksmanship instruction as a gateway to help bring our nation’s history to life.  You will find that many of the values that our forefathers relied on to win our      independence are still very much in demand today.

Through clinics and events, we teach rifle marksmanship and the history of April             19, 1775, the first day of the American Revolution. No matter what your skill level,    you will learn the marksmanship skills that were so crucial to the success of our         nation’s founders. Aside from the fun and camaraderie, these events are designed for you to take away a renewed sense of civic responsibility that you can use in your own community.

We aim to inspire Americans to become active citizens who uphold the principles           and values upon which our country was built. We want to create a community of        informed and engaged citizens who will contribute to the betterment of our nation.

Our goal is to create a nation of Riflemen. We’d love for you to join us.”

What their training did for Evelyn me, in 2 days’ time was to improve our accuracy 100 percent. By all means – look them up and enroll in one of their training courses. You will not regret it.
